Public Art Opportunity in Bath

London Road Gateway – public art commission £5,000

Opportunity for artist

The London Road Gateway project aims to improve the public realm of the stretch of London Road between Cleveland Place junction and Morrisons supermarket.

Bath & North East Somerset Council are working with local residents and businesses to enhance the area, including 11 x large-scale planters made of CorTen steel.  The community would like to have decorative designs on two sides of each planter.

We are seeking a local Bath-based artist to:

  • Work with the community to gather local history and local stories
  • Produce drawings that capture the stories and images collected from local people
  • Consult with the community to agree the final selection of drawings
  • Develop the drawings into 2D designs that can be laser-cut into the side panels of the CorTen steel planters
  • Work with the landscape architect, the Council’s Project Management team, and the fabricators to produce the panels

If you are interested in this opportunity please contact: Ann Cullis, Arts Development Manager, ann_cullis@bathnes.gov.uk to request a copy of the Artist’s Brief for this project.
