Holburne Museum director has new role at the Ashmolean

The director of the Holburne Museum has announced he is leaving to take on a new role at the Ashmolean Museum in Oxford.

Dr Alexander Sturgis, who has been in charge of the Bath museum since 2005, will become the Ashmolean’s director on October 1.

Chairman of the trustees Richard Fleck said the prestigious appointment acknowledged all that had been achieved at the Holburne Museum under Dr Sturgis’s leadership.
